State catches 6 unlicensed Worcester area electricians in Craigslist sting

Posted by Jeremy Shulkin

The state’s Department of Public Licensure caught 20 unlicensed electricians posting their services on Craigslist, with six of them in the Worcester area.

The department hasn’t listed the names yet, but said investigators purchased electrical hardware, took it to an empty home and contacted posters on Craigslist whose ads didn’t include license numbers. Once the contractor came to the building, investigators asked if they were licensed.

“Our concern is we want people to use licensed electricians,” said Patrick administration spokesman Jason Lefferts. “These people are coming into your home to do work. You want to make sure they’re trustworthy.”

Update: The Telegram has named the area contractors caught in Worcester, and the state has provided their locations. They are Frank Rotolo of Millbury, Steven Tellier of Southbridge, Robert DesRosiers of Worcester, Edward LeBlanc of Rutland and Michael White of Leominster. Arthur Ercolini of Billerica was also caught here.

The 20 unlicensed contractors all face fines up to $1,000.

Unlicensed.
