As the T&G reported, one of the two local police unions, the International Brotherhood of Police Officials Local
378 504, received a reprimand from the state’s Office of Campaign and Political Finance for automatically diverting money from paychecks and depositing it into the Worcester Police Officials PAC.
State records show the PAC’s last active date was February 15.
Since the PAC formed on January 1, 2007, the committee raised over $16,700, donating it to candidates Jim McGovern, Mike Germain, John Mahoney, Guy Glodis, Michael Moore, John Fresolo and Joe Early. The PAC spent money on advertisements and robo-calls on behalf of Mahoney, Tom Foley, Fran Ford and James McKenna.
The committee last had $3,647 in their account, and closed it with a $1,000 contribution to the Friendly House and $1,000 to the state as a settlement payment. The remaining $1,647 balance was transferred into the IBPO’s general fund.
