There’s been a lot of reaction from all sides over the city council’s decision that voting on a boycott of Arizona based companies was “not germane” to business. Adding to the fallout is a coalition group called We the People, who will stage a stand out tomorrow at 6:00 on the steps of City Hall.
The group is aiming for more accountability in city government, and uses the council’s recent decisions on street vendors, small business tax classifications, livery drivers, pool closings and the Arizona decision (among others) as examples of exclusion of the public from important decisions. The group is looking for the establishment of a citizen task force that would make city council more “accessible and accountable” to Worcester residents.
