For today’s inauguration Mayor Joe O’Brien had a WRTA city bus shuttle attendees to and from City Hall and Worcester Technical High School at no charge. Apparently it was quite a scene.
A source of ours who rode it said that the atmosphere was “high energy,” and O’Brien, Jim McGovern and Barbara Haller all hopped on. After the then Mayor-Elect made a speech about the merits of public transportation the crowd burst out into a rousing rendition of “The Wheels on the Bus,” but couldn’t make it past the first verse.
It was all planned down to the smallest detail with the destination board on its front reading “Welcome Mr. Mayor.”
