Dude, where’s my car?

A man whose car was stolen today chased down the guy who allegedly stole it and his friend held the guy until Worcester Police could make the arrest. According to the police, the driver left his 2002 Audi A6 running while he ran into Jeff’s Place on Shrewsbury Street. Turns out the victim was in Jeff’s Place when a witness yelled that somebody was driving off with his car. The victim and two of his friends jumped into a friend’s car and took off after the suspect while calling police. At one point they had him trapped on a dead-end street and blocked the street with their car. The suspect drove the car up on the sidewalk to avoid their car and took off. Eventually, the driver crashed the car in the parking of the Price Chopper at Park Avenue and Highland Street. The three friends chased the man of foot to Somerset Street where they found him hiding under a parked car. They held onto him until police arrived. Police arrested Michael Bishop, 40, of 249 Ashland Ave., Southbridge, and charged him with assault with a dangerous weapon and larceny over $250, leaving the scene of property damage, using a motor vehicle without authority, and … yes … operating a motor vehicle without a license.
