Audrey Hall of Framingham, is appointed General Manager, WICN Public Radio, 90.5 FM after a national search. “Audrey brings radio, television, cable, advertising, and general management experience to WICN, expanding our position as New England’s jazz and folk station.” said John Allen, President of the WICN Board.
Hall began her media career as a rock DJ, while attending SUNY College at Buffalo, where she earned a degree in Mass Communications. She subsequently become a reporter for WEBR, a public radio news and jazz station, before becoming a reporter covering politics and current events at Buffalo’s NBC affiliate WIVB-TV.
Hall followed her media interests to New York City, proposing a radical plan to launch cable advertising in the suburban market while a member of the network programming team at New York’s Benton & Bowles Advertising agency. The idea was adopted by Cable Information Systems where she built one of New York’s first local cable television advertising/sales operations, working with MTV, CNN, ESPN and SportsChannel, and collaborating with the newly established Cable Television Advertising Bureau.
She went on to manage marketing, sales, advertising, public relations and programming for American Cablesystems Corp. and Continental Cablevision at the local, regional, district and corporate levels. Her executive resume includes a nine year stint building and transitioning overall cable television operations for Sutton Capital Associates, L.P. and Cablevision Systems Corporation where she developed a reputation for delivering profit growth and customer satisfaction.
After leaving the cable industry to spend time with her family, Hall founded a strategy and marketing communications consulting firm. She remains active in philanthropic causes and community affairs, serving as a Framingham town meeting member and chair of the standing committee on ways and means. She hosts a cable TV talk show which can be seen on Comcast Cable, RCN, and Verizon Fios.
A long term fan and supporter of public radio, she views music as an invigorating and comforting companion in life. Commenting on her new position Hall says, “WICN is a treasure chest filled with the most unique and valuable jewels radio has to offer. The station has tremendous growth potential as a worldwide provider of niche programming and as an integral part of the regional cultural community.”
