Beetles, out of town meetings, and city council…tonight

We should have a fun city council meeting, with coverage starting here at 7pm or so.

In addition to an anticipated showdown over Mayor Lukes’ planned council retreat, there will be the monthly Economic Development report(always exciting!) and a report on the Asian Longhorned Bastards Beetle situation.

OK, we’ll let you know now.  According to the city report, over 11,700 infested and high-risk host trees have been removed so far.  That includes some so-called “blue dot” trees that were heavily damaged after the ice storm, and removed despite their non-infested status.  And that count doesn’t count the half dozen or so cranes that dotted streets off of West Boylston yesterday morning, removing more trees.
