According to a report from the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance, Direnzo Towing and Recovery of Millbury has been cited after painting an old school bus with a billboard urging voters to “Vote Mike Moore, State Senator, Democrat. Expect MOORE …For Your Vote.”
Moore didn’t know about the bus ahead of time, and thus didn’t have to record it as an in-kind donation.
But when we wrote about the bus in October, John Direnzo told us he had no intention of filing the required independent expenditure form with the OCPF.
The state ruling says Moore’s campaign paid Direnzo the standard IRS mileage rate for parades, etc, and eventually paid $500 to the company for the estimated value of the advertising. Direnzo passed that money onto the state treasurey for non-compliance with finance law.
