Worcester County HOC going green

The Worcester County House of Corrections has installed a 160-foot wind turbine test tower on the grounds of the jail, and plans to construct a 2.5 megawatt wind turbine there after a year of meteorological testing.

According to a release from Sheriff Guy Glodis, one turbine could produce 5.2 million kilowatt hours a year; the jail uses about 6 million kilowatt hours a year and wants to eventually install 3 turbines.
