This morning Paul Loscocco announced he is dropping his independent bid for Lt. Governor and endorsed Charlie Baker’s candidacy. Loscocco, a Republican, had tied his candidacy to independent candidate Tim Cahill’s campaign for governor.
In a statement released this morning, Loscocco says he doesn’t want to let his “ego” get in the way of “doing what’s right” — a dig at Cahill, who many believe has no chance to win, and who Baker supports say will take the votes that Baker needs to beat Patrick. A sort of Ralph Nader situation, if you will.
Loscocco’s a little late to the game on this decision though. His name will still be on the November ballot, even though he’s now out.
