Lt. governor and former Worcester mayor Tim Murray checked himself into St. Vincent hospital late last night after what appears to be heat exhaustion from marching in numerous Independence Day parades in 90 degree heat. From the Telegram‘s quick blurb:
According to a statement from the governor’s office, Mr. Murray, who is running with Deval L. Patrick for re-election in the fall, checked himself in after marching in five Independence Day parades over three days of 90 degree weather. According to the statement, he was in good spirits last night. Ms. Murphy said his last parade was this afternoon in Chelmsford.
I spentĀ 45 minutes interviewing him yesterday for an upcoming cover story. He mentioned he was tired due to the busy month of June he (and the city) had, but seemed energetic and happy to talk. It probably didn’t hurt that we were sitting in a room with an air conditioner, though. We’ll try to keep up on the details as they emerge.
