Last night while discussing the airport transfer and the potential future changes to transportation within Worcester, City Manager Mike O’Brien referred to a transportation study done three years ago which included looking at how best to move visitors/travelers from Union Station to the airport.
While no specifics were given out, immediately an image of a monorail came to mind. I wasn’t the only one to have that thought either.
This is exactly what I was thinking about:

I vote for zip-line. At least for the trip back down.
We’d need a zipline song.
I believe a monorail has to run along a level, or nearly level track. The grade to the airport would require a separate tramway, if elevated transport was to go all the way.
a search of the T&G archives shows monorail proposals in 1993, 1999, 2002 and I know there was one in the 80′s
We could take the streetcar
to the aerial tram
but since we can’t get from Point A to Point Z without first visiting Points B through Y (or for us neurotics, Points A1, A2, A3, ad infinitum)… What progress, if any, has been made with the FORWARD FUNDING PLAN FOR THE WRTA?
