The end of El Delicioso?
The Sunday morning shooting at El Delicioso - the oft-maligned food truck on the corner of Main and Benefit Streets - raises a lot of questions. A couple:
- Why did it take so long to get into the paper? A Sunday morning shooting that the paper didn’t report about until Tuesday’s news? We’re not surprised, but it seems slow.
- How long before the truck is temporarily/permanently shutdown? Councilor Barbara Haller and Main South Activist Billy Breault have long fought the truck, saying it was a draw for noise, and a violent incident waiting to happen. The truck pulls heavily from the post-club crowd at the old Tropigala, no stranger to violence itself. And with the License Commission’s recent actions showing it is unafraid of imposing restrictions on an establishment because of nearby shootings (Golden Pizza), we anticipate the truck will have an injunction against it by Friday.
Will the truck be forced to shutdown? Will it just move to another location? More to come, we’re sure, tonight at City Council.
