William Breault has his heart in the right place with his stand against changing the laws concerning marijuana. Unfortunately, that long established stand was bought and paid for before World War II, fueled by bigotry and racism to bloat the marijuana myth well beyond the confines of scientific fact.

The biggest problem with perpetuating the false information about the so-called dangers of marijuana is that those who do experiment with it know immediately that the government is lying.

The weak-minded among them all too easily surmise that if they’re lying about marijuana, then they’re probably lying about all the other drugs, as well.

This is a dangerous setup, and it has perpetuated the myth that marijuana supposedly leads to the abuse of narcotics.

Marijuana is not a narcotic.

It is not an addictive substance.

Turning otherwise productive members of society into felons for using it is not, and never has been, in the best interests of this society.

Yes, the Supreme Court has twice in recent years passed on hearing marijuana cases, but only so states could pass their own law (Republic anyone?) which in turn is exactly what Billy is fighting against, way to battle democracy douche bag. And for the love of god can we stop with the potency argument? Yes, indoor growing techniques have improved and potency of marijuana has sky rocketed, but not universally. Good, high potency weed costs more per ounce than Billy makes in a week. Just as with premium craft beers with higher alcohol by volume, the cost and ‘potency’ limits, not encourages consumption.
Billy is a moralist and a prohibitionist and to that end he must be ignored, shunned and/or ridiculed back to whatever small minded hole in the ground he comes from. We can’t tolerate ignorance in our community and pretend it’s a suitable substitute for facts when we have real problems to deal with. And we certainly can’t pretend the voice of a crazy person is suitable for leadership, even if it’s leadership of an imaginary group like Main South Alliance for Public Safety. Hopefully people will start to realize that Billy Breault is not a good person, he is an angry and misguided old man who thinks life should be a Rockwell painting. Well it’s not, never was, get over it.

I watched the council meeting posting online, and as a citizen of Worcester, it is embarrassing to think outsiders may be watching the ludicrous, unprofessional behavior carried on in City Hall.

Firsts of all, the city administration and the council has no clear and obvious vision for Worcester. The administration has numerous projects, that are, for the most part, disconnected and serve no real benefit for the people at large. Often the voice of the people is ignored. Most things are a done deal, with faux public hearings, it’s really laughable but tragic at the same time. A city government without vision often appears reactionary. This is clearly exemplified in last Tuesday’s council meeting, for example, relative to a fire fighter Mark Stomski . His WFD local Union brothers are asking for benefits for this exceptional city employee. The problem is there is no clear policy. There is no consideration that what the city does for one it has to do for all. Consequentially, as the council reacts to the Fireman’s Union claims, they appear to be agonizing over a particular individual. The dialog between council members and the fire chief becomes somewhat unprofessional.

Subsequently, the Mayor calls for clear language and for policy and she is slammed by other council members and by radio pundits, who would obviously, use union pandering as a tool to bring down the Mayor. The union and it’s members are good people and well intended, however, the issue is not about the Union, it is not about Mr Stomski, it is about control at city hall.

The Telegram & Gazette is reporting that the Super 88 that was planned for downtown Worcester is “no-go” on Go/No-Go test.
That’s too bad! The Super 88s in Boston are neat Asian markets with tons of mock meats and weird veg things. You can even get vegetarian duck in a can:
But lucky for you, there are already some quality Asian markets in Worcester. If weird mock-meats are your idea of a good time, check out Mekong Market at 747 Main Street in Worcester (map), where you can pick up a bag of frozen veg. shrimp complete with nice little soy-based eyes that look up at you.
