Screw Scorsese

This is incredible.  A few Worcester kids in the 70′s made a fan remake of Star Wars on Super8 film.  (Anyone know where these guys are now???  Five bucks to whoever sends them our way.)

This is truly remarkable stuff, and there’s a full accompanying website that details the making of, etc.

Woops!

A little mobile-phone blogging error resulted in the majority of our inauguration posts ending up over on the old Worcester Elections blog.  Our bad.

The big news coming from Wednesday night?

  •  Konnie Lukes is, in fact, an elected woman.  In case you didn’t know.
  • Lukes wants more “collaboration” between private companies and nonprofits, and the city.  It was at the heart of her speech, and it will be interesting to see how she attempts to implement it in the coming weeks.  For-profits may love the idea, especially if it means taking over potentially profitable functions or offering services in exchange for tax breaks, etc.  On the other hand, non-profits have blanched at PILOT efforts so far, and we question what will be different about Lukes’ effort to bring them in.
  • Lukes also supported traffic cameras, and it looks like the item will be coming up at the next council meeting.
